Thrax, I'm quite certain the medical consensus is that the risk of HIV transmission is *much* higher in intercourse than in oral sex. I believe this is because there's so much more force, thrusting, friction, and that the skin is more vulnerable in the genitals, so small tears in the flesh (often undetected) allow for the virus to transfer. Again, I'm not a physician, but I've read that in a number of legitimate sources.

OTOH, people who actually know what the fuck they are talking about will tell you there is a window where you are HIV positive, test negative, and can still spread it (before your body produces enough antibodies to be detectable). This can be 3 months, maybe six. Also, that testing isn't always accurate when there ARE enough antibodies. It's mostly sex that spreads this shit...and it's still spreading rapidly (though slower than before, thanks largely to...CONDOMS!). It has nothing to do with the mechanics of the action vs that of intercourse. This is the same reason that dog's have "cleaner" mouths than humans.
