Good points, wigworm - the languages you are referring to are commonly called "Romance Languages", but do NOT include Greek, which is not descended from Latin since it predates it. You could have included French instead, which would have been correct. But anyone who speaks a Romance language is not necessarily a Latina - since we don't commonly refer to French or Italians as Latinas. And not I'm not sure every female from Latin America is Latina either. For instance, how about a Dutch speaker from Surinam?

EmptyTriangle, Greek is not a Romance language because it did not descend from Latin, not because it "predates it." No lanaguage predates any other, unless we are talking about creoles or pidgens. The English I speak can be traced as far back as far as Homeric Greek, there's just no written record of it from way back then.
